? BTS with @daniel.schiffer ? Here’s a condensed behind the scenes look at how I filmed this little “mock commercial” just for fun. Repost @reflexcinemaus ・・・ Even if you identify exclusively as a shooter, you need to invest some time in post. Not just in color correction, but all the ins and outs of your basic NLE software. Principle Photography and post have never been more integrated than they are right now. Whole career-making technical concepts are sitting at your fingertips, buried in the minutia of simple post effects.. . This effect I’m featuring today underpinned the entirety of a multimillion-dollar headphone commercial. The BTS footage in my edit is from @daniel.schiffer who made an excellent re-creation of the effect. The commercial is just a series of wide lateral tracking shots, cropped-in and stabilized. Instead of stabilizing the shot conventionally to eliminate wobble, the effect was locked onto the in-ear headphone.. . The result is something resembling a virtual snorricam. The camera appears to be attached to the talent, with their head always centered and the background moving. It’s a cool, simple idea, that creates a striking ad for an otherwise generic product. Experimentation is everything people. Play with your gear, play with effects. Often failures can accidentally produce interesting byproducts. Pay attention to this. Any interesting software glitch could be a clue to a new idea.
